Term 3 Year 6 Science Fair

As part of our Science unit about states of matter (gas, liquid and solid) and changes between states of matter. The students were asked to plan an experiment that demonstrated a change in state of matter. For example, changing from a solid to liquid, or liquid to gas, etc.

The brief for the experiment was that the aim of the experiment be a question that the students did not know an answer to, and that their presentation at the Term 3 Science Fair must be exciting and engaging for a range of learners from Kindergarten to Year Six.

The students divided up into pairs and were given time in class, time as part of homework and time to meet in the Term 2 holidays in readiness for presentation at the Science Fair. The Science Fair was an amazing experience for not only the Year 6 students, but also students across the school.

Students and teachers from Years 1-5 voted for an overall winner of the Science Fair based on the quality of the investigation, the quality of the presentation and how engaging the students were in conveying the key ideas and findings of their investigation. First place was awarded to Chloe and Tilli, second place was awarded to and third place was awarded to. All of the students received a certificate of achievement because the quality of the Science Fair was so high. Well done Year 6!
